Why I got into TV and other stories [videorecording] / director-producer, Ilene Segalove. [1983]

In this series of six autobiographical tales produced and directed by Ilene Segalove, the tone is off-centered 1960s sitcom. The stories are narrated by the main character, a teenage girl who is growing up in Beverly Hills, California during the 1960s. Segalove uses humor, the language of female teenage angst, and the TV shows of the era to heighten a sense of irony, anxiety and confusion over personal identity. To add to a feeling of disconnection from reality, none of the characters' heads or faces are ever seen, only torsos, arms and legs. The only faces shown are those of the people the main character sees in photographs or on television.
